Crown and Bridgework

Implants

Crown and Bridgework is used to replace broken down teeth and missing teeth
Sometimes when a tooth is heavily broken down or has previously been heavily filled, it is necessary to protect the tooth with a crown. By crowning a tooth it ensures that it is completely covered over which has the advantage of strengthening the tooth and of sealing it to prevent bacterial leakage. Crowning a tooth means that it can then serve as a functioning tooth, helping to restore the normal "bite". Crowns can be white or gold coloured.

Crown or Bridge?
Bridges are a possible alterenative to dentures in selective cases. It means that you can fill the gap where a natural tooth was previously extracted or lost. A bridge will involve an artifical tooth connecting to one of the natural teeth on either side of the gap. Unlike dentures, a bridge is fixed in the mouth and does not come out. Dental Implants are another available treatment option.
What will a crown or bridge look like?
The colour of the bridge or crown can be made to match that if the exsiting teeth and this will help to make it look more natural. Can you spot the crowns in the photo on the left hand side?

The answer is they are all crowns!
